Things Heating Up For The SEPAC!

Dear Georgetown Families,

I am so excited to share with you some of the work being done by your SEPAC as we come to the close of another successful school year.  I would like to start with a recap of a training that occurred on April 24th in the Penn Brook Library.  The district BCBAs (Board Certified Behavior Analysts) developed a workshop for parents that explains their role in working with students, as well as the FBA (Functional Behavioral Assessment) process.  Allyssa Shuetner and Brittany Carvalho came prepared with a full powerpoint presentation, and were able to answer questions in an intimate environment.  This was also broadcast on Facebook Live.  I vey much appreciate their work and the valuable information they shared, as well as the families who were able to attend.

There are three (3) more SEPAC events that are rapidly approaching, which I think will be both fun and a valuable resource for those who attend.  On Tuesday, May 28th, I will be presenting a workshop on Parent Rights at 6:30 PM in the Penn Brook Library.  In addition to the training, I will certainly answer any end of the year questions you may have.  The SEPAC elections for FY20 will be taking place on Wednesday, June 5th.  Ballot boxes will be placed at Dunkin Donuts, and the formal election will be held at Flatbreads at 6:30 PM.  Be sure to cast your ballot!  Lastly, my favorite event of the year will be taking place on Wednesday, June 12th, at Jeff & Maria’s Ice Cream in Groveland at 6:30 PM.  This is an opportunity for the SEPAC and Georgetown families to recognize staff who have truly shown themselves to be champions for children, and present the Shining Stars Awards.  Please respond to the SEPAC if there is a staff member that you would like to nominate.

I am looking forward to seeing you all at these very important events.  More importantly, I look forward to hearing you share stories about the successes that your children achieved this year.  I wish you all a happy, healthy, and peaceful Memorial Day Weekend.

Sincerely,

Jack Tiano
