Shining Stars

Dear Members Of The Georgetown Community:

Welcome to summer! The extended year program has been underway for a little over a week, and running smoothly.   I have worked to make a few minor changes in the program this year, and hope to do more for summer 2018. Some of you have given me some feedback for improvement already. Much of this feedback has focused on communication. I will work harder next year to ensure that I do a better job with this so that all families can successfully prepare their summer plans. Although some generic letters were sent home this year, I plan to send home more detailed information to parents, fully explaining their child’s programming. Additionally, I will work to have better coordination between the different programs in attempts to make drop off and pick up times easier for families. As always, I welcome your thoughts and ideas, and love talking with you about them.

I also wanted to take a moment to talk about the wonderful event held by your SEPAC on June 28th. Officers took time to recognize the work of the special education department, calling out their “Shining Stars”. Winners of the awards this year were Susan McCarter, Karyn Williams, Jennifer Rowell, Heidi Mongeau, and Bennett Pawlusiak. Congratulations to these deserving winners. We are so thankful for their efforts regarding our special population. Additionally, SEPAC fundraising brought 2 specialized chairs to the Penn Brook Elementary School. I so much appreciate the work that the SEPAC does to make the lives of the students within the Georgetown community better!

Enjoy a wonderful summer!

Sincerely and Respectfully,

Jack Tiano
