Letter to Parents & Students from Principal Jeffrey Carovillano

Hello GMHS Parents and Students!

Don’t panic, there is still plenty of summer left, but I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself to the GMHS school community.   My name is Jeff Carovillano and I am very excited to be the new principal of Georgetown Middle High School.  Previously I was the Assistant Principal at Ipswich High School and I have over 20 years of experience as a school administrator and Social Studies teacher.  I attended the College of the Holy Cross where I majored in History and played lacrosse and I have a Master’s Degree in Archaeology from the University of Massachusetts in Boston.  My wife Jeanne and I live in Manchester by the Sea and we have a son entering the 5th grade and a daughter starting 9th grade in the Manchester Essex Regional schools.

I am honored to have the opportunity to lead a school with a reputation for excellence like GMHS and to work in a town as beautiful as Georgetown.  My educational philosophy is that school should be a supportive, challenging, safe, and fun place for ALL students.  I am a collaborative leader who values diversity and I will endeavor to foster an environment of respect and high expectations at our school. This year GMHS will continue to prioritize the health, safety, and emotional well-being of our students, teachers, and staff as we progress towards a return to normalcy in the classroom while we also apply many of the positive lessons we learned about engaging and teaching students over the last year and a half.

I look forward to getting to know the students of GMHS when school begins on September 1st.  I will be scheduling opportunities to meet with parents and guardians and please feel free to contact me at carovillanoj@georgetown.k12.ma.us at any time.

Go Royals!
