School Committee Adopts Calendar for Next School Year

The Georgetown School Committee adopted a calendar for the 2017-2018 school year at their meeting on April 13th. We apologize for the delay in the final adoption and hope that it will assist you in your planning.

 Just a couple of highlights:

1. The first day for students will be on August 29 which is before Labor Day which is September 4th.

2. Assuming there are no snow days, the projected last day of school will be June 15, 2018.

3. The school calendars and holidays are marked as usual but there is a new holiday that was added this year which is a half day/ early release day on September 29th which is Yom Kippur. The School Committee approved this day acknowledging that this is the highest holy day for our Jewish families.

4. Professional development days and holidays are noted and full say professional development days are  aligned with town elections again this year.

5. Christmas and New Years Day are on Monday. There will be no school on the Friday before Christmas December 22nd .

A link to the new calendar will be posted on the district website at but I have included a file below .

Lwt me know if you have any questions.
