Happy Thanksgiving!

I want to wish all of our Georgetown family and friends a very Happy Thanksgiving.  I hope that your holiday is filled with good food, laughter and the blessings of love and peace for you and your families. In this busy world, it is wonderful to have the chance to pause and appreciate the things we have in our lives for which we are thankful.  As I was watching a show on television the other day about decorating for the holiday, I saw a simple idea that i am going to try this year.   It starts with a collection of small branches that could be painted  but don’t need to be that are arranged in a vase.   As people came to the table, the write on a pre-cut leave something they were thankful for and they hang it on the branches.  This then becomes the centerpiece for the table and  this  simple activity is a visual  reminder about why we celebrate Thanksgiving.  This year my leaves include the following things.

I am thankful for my family who has always supported my goals , hopes and dreams and who has loved me no matter what.

I am thankful for my friends and colleagues who inspire me and make me a better educator, friend and person.

I am thankful for the students who keep me young at heart and focused on what is really important about my chosen profession and personal work- THEM and what is right and best for their education now and in the future.

I am thankful to the families who trust their children to us every day and for the many ways they work with us in partnership on behalf of their precious children.

I am thankful for the many volunteers, including the dedicated School Committee members and so many others who work tirelessly on our behalf  to ensure that we have what we need to do our important work every day. Your commitment and willingness to sacrifice for others is nothing short of amazing !

I am grateful to the community of Georgetown and all that it offers to its citizens. It is  truly a special and unique small town with a huge heart and I am honored to have been part of it for the past eleven years and counting.

I hope that you have time in the next couple of days to reflect on what you are thankful and grateful for because life is so precious and every moment counts.  As we begin the holiday season,  I wish you peace, joy and happiness.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving and GO ROYALS!
