GEF Announces Golden Apple Award Winners

Every year the Georgetown Education Foundation ( GEF) selects and recognizes deserving teachers to receive the Golden Apple Award. This week was very exciting as members of the GEF board and school and district administrators surprised this year’s recipients in their classrooms with balloons and a certificate. Congratulations go to Terri Brooks from Penn Brook ( 2nd grade teacher) and Liz Marchetti from GMHS( tech integration specialist) ! These outstanding teachers were nominated by their colleagues which makes it that much more special and both were genuinely surprised , touched and grateful for this recognition.  Even though they have already been notified, the celebration will continue at a formal recognition ceremony at the GEF Spring Fling, on Friday April 5th at the Peirce  Farm at Witch Hill in Topsfield. I hope a big crowd will turn out to show support for Terri and Liz and the students of Georgetown at this annual GEF fundraiser.  The GEF  will also reveal  the Partner in Education Award winner as well as celebrate all the recipients of the GEF Grants. This year there were nine grant applications and I would not want to have to make the decision because all of the  grants are outstanding and would bring wonderful opportunities to students. The GEF events are always fun and this year’s Spring Fling is going to be amazing! Come out for the evening , enjoy some delicious food and drink, dance to a DJ and take a chance on a silent auction and some awesome raffles. Tickets can be purchased at www.gef-kids. com

Hope to see you there and thanks again GEF for always supporting our staff and our students!
