2018 Superintendent’s Award Winner Selected

I am pleased to announce that Kate  Irons is the recipient of the 2018 Superintendent’s Award.  Kate and her parents Mo and Mike and her sister Erin attended the School Committee meeting on October 26, 2017 to accept her Award.

Kate is the valedictorian of the Class of 2018 and simply put is an outstanding student who has taken the most challenging courses and has maintained an A average over her four years in high school She is a young lady who is intellectually curious, always up for a challenge and is committed to achieving personal excellence. She works extremely hard and is an excellent role model for her peers.

In addition to being an excellent student. Kate is also an outstanding athlete. She plays three  sports ((soccer , ice hockey and softball) and was selected as the captain of all three of these teams.  Just like in the classroom, Kate  works hard on and off the field and in the off-season to become the best she can be but one of the nicest  things about Kate is her commitment to her team and teammates . She is not one to seek accolades for herself, but rather  is  an “encourager”,  a positive role model and leader who always treats her peers with respect and kindness. Kate is the kind of person that people want to be around!

Kate is also committed to serving her school and community in many ways. She is the president of the Class of 2018,  member of the National Honor Society and the Key Club and is a peer tutor always willing to do more than her share to help others.

Kate is planning to attend college and pursue a career in one of the STEM fields. She has a passion for the sciences and I am confident that Kate will be successful in anything she sets out to do in college and beyond.  She is a very special young lady and  it my honor to select her as the award winner this year. Congratulations Kate!
